What do you do for a stomach aches?

I am so super excited to share this with you. I have seen over and over again those who suffer with Crohn’s disease use toxic slushies, shakes and smoothies with questionable ingredients to soothe their tummy aches.

I have been there many times; more  than I care to remember. There is nothing worse than the agony of pain and cramping. It feels like your stomach is on fire. Honestly anything cold; ice cream, ice slushies, smoothies, popsicles that were easy to find would do the trick.

The problem is most of the ingredients in these cold fast food chemistry lab-wonders would result in more pain and discomfort a couple of hours later. Great in the (heat) of the moment but no-so-good later. There is nothing in these types of ingredients that promote gut healing let alone the best cure for stomach aches.

When it comes to Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Irritable bowel Syndrome there is one thing in common with both; sensitive tummies. Check out this great recipe for squelching your tummy fire with my friend Chef Lauren

This wonderful blend of apples, beets, ginger, aloe and coconut are great for digestive health. Throw in Gaia herbs Peppermint Leaf Extract and tasty kids Tummy Tonic and you have a juice or popsicle that will keep your entire digestive tract happy!

Beets are a wonderful liver-protector and aids in improve blood flow and juice can help bring blood pressure under control while increasing stamina and energy. Apples contain antioxidants and phytochemicals such as polyphenols, which offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory protection that may help reduce chronic illness and improve body functions. Ginger root is a popular root herb and most with IBD and IBS stick to ginger ale as the tonic of choice. Most of those drinks contain too little of the healing herb and too much sugar. Giner root is an excellent anti-inflammatory, anti-flatulent, and anti-microbial properties. Ginger root can help improve intestinal motility, reduce nausea and effective against E.coli induced diarrhea, especially in children. A little can go along way.

Ditch the nutrient void sugar-chemical laden shakes, drinks and ice cream. Instead keep these on hand for all of your tummy woes. You can make popsicles, Slushies or keep it cold and sip as often as needed. Will keep 3-4 days refrigerated.
